SHOULDER PADS BUYING GUIDE

Position Profile

Skill position pads are low-profile and lightweight. Lineman pads are bulkier with more coverage. Never wear skill pads on the line.

Fit is Everything

Pads should sit on your shoulders without sliding. The neck opening should be snug but not restrict head movement. Try them on with your jersey.

Padding Technology

AiR cushioning, foam, and gel systems all absorb impact differently. AiR systems tend to be lighter; foam is more durable long-term.

Range of Motion

For QBs and receivers, range of motion is critical. Test your throwing motion and catching reach before committing to a pair.
